Playa del Carmen

Katie and I just got back from shooting a wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.  With the exception of a blood-thirsty Spider-monkey, seven hundred dollars of credit card fraud, and the possibility that I may have contracted chicken pox for the third time in my life (I don't even know if it's possible to get it three times-but I hope not, I go to the doctor today), it was a wonderful getaway!
The wedding of Ben and Jen could not have gone any better and we're be excited to show you some pictures here in the next few weeks.  They and their family were some of the sweetest, most hospitable people we've ever had the pleasure of being around and working with!

The Devil-Monkey
Don't be fooled by this little guy.  He may look sweet and innocent, but in reality, he is consumed with plotting evil.  The owner kept assuring us of how friendly he was but I should have known better than to pass him on to Katie after he stole my sunglasses and grabbed my lip (bottom right picture).  When Katie picked him up he was cute at first.  The way he gently wrapped his little human-like fingers around Katie's pinky was heartwarming, much like when a baby does it.  But then we saw his teeth and gums right before he bit Katie's finger like a hotdog.  I can't even tell you the scare this caused in Katie's family.  We made the mistake of calling Barbie, Katie's mom, and telling her about the monkey bite.  Barbie panicked and started calling everyone in the family and shortly after we were getting panicky phone calls from all of the siblings.  This did nothing to make us feel better.  I started loosing feeling in my knees as the list of possible diseases monkeys can carry were read off.  But in the end, everything was okay.  The monkey had his vaccinations and was "street legal" and the doctors said there was no need for alarm- so we're all laughing about it now... However, Katie apparantly doesn't learn quickly from these kinds of things.  It hadn't even been five minutes since the monkey bite and she was already dying to pick up a baby lion off the street.  I finally managed to dissuade her from this, convincing her that maybe she's wasn't on a role that day and if he too decided to bite her finger, it could be a little worse than the monkey.

Me imitating the Spider-monkey biting Katie's finger.  This joke is going to go on for a long time to come!
Best food we ate in Playa!

  2. OMG! You are two of the funniest people I've ever known! Hilarious story of your adventure in Mexico!

However...I must correct something you said. I DID NOT panic. If I had, I would have jumped on the first plane to Playa to take control of the situation!
I would describe it as ''controlled trepidation and angst".

Only to Katie would something like this happen!
